Has anyone out
there heard about The Secret? Don’t worry; you didn’t miss the memo
that Sea World is going to build a new 24 hour theme park near Unser
and Southern. It’s not that kind of secret.
I first heard of The Secret last month when my best friend told me
about this three minute movie I had to watch. “It has changed my
life,” she gushed as she rushed off to close another real estate deal.
Then a couple of weeks ago when my computer succumbed to a terminal
case of laryngitis, the techie who came out to save me said he had a
new outlook on life. “I just saw The Secret and I feel like I have
some direction now.” he mused. Coincidence or are those karmic winds
of synchronicity blowing gale force down my street?
For all intensive purposes, The Secret has been around for ions but
only now is coming into the forefront of mainstream culture. The
Secret is defined as the law of attraction, which states that like
attracts like. The concept says the energy you put into the world—both
good and bad—is exactly what comes back to you. This means you better
focus on good energy, good thoughts because it all comes ricocheting
back to you ten fold. We create the circumstances in our lives with
the choices we make every day. If you want good will, project good
will.
I can look back over my life and definitely see where I was
unintentionally putting out negative vibes and it came back to bite
me, almost literally. Years ago, my boss at the time asked me to pet
sit his cat and Doberman Pincher while he and his family went away on
vacation. I really didn’t want to do this, but felt obligated to
because he was my boss. To make a long story short, the dog returned
his affection for me by letting me clean up after him every morning in
the downstairs hallway. And to top it all off, the cat died. Turns out
it had feline leukemia; so why did it have to check out on my watch?
Yes, I am a firm believer in The Secret.
I think we all need to put The Secret to work in our everyday lives
here in the City of Vision. "Energy flows where attention goes," as
the Secret teachers tell us. When life’s little annoyances creep up on
us, don’t get mad, instead send out positive energy so that bad luck
doesn’t come back to roost on your roof. This was the case with last
month’s astronomical heating bill. I came up with an idea to
accumulate hearts and flowers all around me and reflect the negative.
I focused my positive energy and forwarded PNM a lucky email I
received stating if they made a wish and sent it on to nine of their
closest friends in the next fourteen minutes, they would have all
their wishes come true the following Tuesday. I am sure they sent it
on.
As I continue to focus on the positive in my life and be thankful for
what I have rather than what I don’t, I will share The Secret with
everyone I know, knowing it will come back to me in the form of
goodness, happiness and chocolate birthday cake. So, to you my loyal
readers, may you all get hefty raises, fall madly in love and win
millions in the lottery.
